About The Position

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District provides comprehensive wastewater and storm water management services to residents and businesses in both St. Louis City and County. As one of the most recognized employers in the region and a fixture in the downtown area, MSD employs over 900 individuals in a wide-range of roles including skilled crafts and laborers, engineering, information technology, finance, human resources and administration support. Requirements

  • Associate degree or 60 college credit hours towards a degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in the field of sewer maintenance, inspection and/or construction.
  • Including at least two years of supervisory/leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees and manages the work of multiple crews in the maintenance, inspection, construction and repair of sanitary and storm water sewer facilities.
  • Oversees scheduling of assignments and determination of appropriate equipment to be used.
  • Responds to calls or emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
  • Enforces District wide policies and procedures.
  • Manage personnel related issues.
  • Evaluate performance of subordinates and generate performance reviews.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Inspects job sites for safe work practices and compliance with safety regulations and policies and documents safety observations.
  • Investigates injuries, incidents and accidents in collaboration with safety coordinator and manager.
  • Make recommendations to procedures and/or equipment to prevent future injury/accident occurrences.
  • Monitors production and make adjustments accordingly.
  • Collaborate with all supervisors throughout the District to accomplish performance goals.
  • Review work orders for complete and accurate records.
  • Generate and correlate data.
  • Comply with procurement policies and monitor expenditures for supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Supervise training program for personnel.
  • Coordinate District work with other utilities, contractors, public and private agencies.
  • Meet with public officials and private citizens regarding District work.
  • Maintain pertinent records.
  • Perform related work as required or as delegated by manager.
