About The Position
The Operations Supervisor - Transfer Station is a pivotal role within Republic Services, responsible for overseeing the operational activities at a transfer station. This position entails supervising a team that includes dispatchers, operations clerks, drivers, and helpers, all of whom are integral to the route system. The primary goal is to maximize productivity while ensuring compliance with federal and state weight regulations. The Operations Supervisor collaborates closely with the Operations Manager and General Manager to implement tactical initiatives aimed at driving functional excellence and achieving budgetary goals. This role is crucial in ensuring adherence to all safety, environmental, operational, regulatory, accounting, and ethical standards, thereby fostering a culture of employee engagement and operational efficiency. In this role, the Operations Supervisor is expected to lead by example, particularly in safety initiatives. This includes understanding and communicating safety goals, working to eliminate unsafe conditions, and partnering with the maintenance department to ensure all equipment is compliant with safety standards. The supervisor will also oversee effective safety and accident prevention programs, ensuring a safe and productive work environment for all employees. Engaging employees in safety practices is essential, as is demonstrating a personal commitment to safe operations. Customer experience is another critical aspect of this position. The Operations Supervisor must ensure that service provided to customers meets or exceeds expectations, addressing any unusual service requests or equipment breakdowns promptly. This role involves direct interaction with customers to resolve issues and enhance overall satisfaction, serving as a positive representative of the company. Efficiency is a key responsibility, where the supervisor will establish productivity goals, manage labor hours, and oversee daily outbound throughput. Leading drivers to exceed productivity expectations and executing operational plans to meet budgeted goals are essential tasks. Additionally, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for fostering a collaborative team environment, driving employee engagement, and supporting the career development of team members.
