Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of power plant or similar experience required.
  • Gas turbine experience is highly desirable.
  • At least 2 years of experience supervising technical, supervisory, and administrative personnel required.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills required.
  • Basic math skills and good verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the plant.
  • Direct the implementation of the Operating Plan and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure thermal and electrical outputs are maintained at maximum levels and efficiencies.
  • Report plant conditions to the Plant Manager and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Provide guidance to the maintenance supervisor regarding equipment conditions and maintenance activities.
  • Prepare required reports for the owner and/or utility.
  • Oversee the daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records.
  • Maintain the plant Operations Manuals and procedures.
  • Sustain the morale and motivation of operations personnel and handle employee concerns.
  • Ensure proper implementation of the water chemistry program.
  • Assist with the location, screening, and hiring of operating personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with the Plant Manager and other personnel regarding plant conditions.
  • Supervise subordinate operations personnel and cooperate with other supervisors.
  • Provide oversight and administration of plant operating procedures.
  • Work with compliance organizations to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Support plant budget development and forecasting.
  • Coordinate outage and project execution activities.
