POSITION SUMMARY: This is advanced supervisory work, overseeing and facilitating the efforts of a highly technical staff providing motor equipment maintenance, repair and fabrication. Employees in this position will be skilled in modern supervision, parts and inventory control, motor equipment repair practices and procedures, shop safety, computer data entry, and one or more other related specialized fields of motor equipment maintenance. The Central Fleet Supervisors are the first contact point for customers of the Fleet program, support staff from other County agencies, and outside vendors and contractors. In addition, this position is responsible for inventory accountability, maintaining a perpetual inventory records system in support of the Central Fleets automotive repair facilities, and establishing minimum and maximum inventory levels in accordance with County requirements.. Works under the general supervision of the Central Fleet Administrator and work is reviewed through reports, discussions and results obtained. CLASS DESCRIPTION: Performs intermediate supervisory level and advanced operations service work under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work includes supervising the activities of laboring and equipment operation personnel in areas such as construction, maintenance, landfill disposal, tree care, utility, vehicle repair, contracted refuse collection, water reclamation, parks, horticulture, and forestry work.
