The Operations Supervisor for the 2nd shift in Jonestown, PA, is responsible for directing daily business activities and providing leadership to assigned personnel. This role involves ensuring that production meets or exceeds customer service level agreements (SLAs) while managing labor costs effectively. The supervisor will oversee a team of up to 60 production line associates, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in operations, while also fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Direct daily business activities and provide leadership for assigned personnel.
  • Accountable for daily work assignments of all regular and temporary labor to meet or exceed customer SLAs while minimizing labor costs.
  • Achieve performance standards regarding safety, line utilization, and quality.
  • Track key performance indicators/costs, anticipating and correcting trends that could compromise financial targets.
  • Oversee and assure facility equipment reliability to minimize downtime.
  • Supervise up to 60 full-time/temporary Production Line associates.
  • Set up and operate equipment according to Production Work Order Requirements and operational procedures.
  • Train and coach employees on department work instructions, processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Coach and mentor team leads on leadership skills such as communication, results, and accountability.
  • Manage personnel, material, and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Meet production cost, schedules, and quality requirements through established manufacturing processes and methods.
  • Monitor and report weekly production metrics on productivity and quality.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to ensure performance targets are consistently met.
  • Interface with planning and quality management when defects or non-conforming products are found.
  • Determine best methods to handle deviations from standardized processes.
  • Maintain all defined 6S standards and ensure compliance with ISO policies and procedures.
  • Communicate daily with Sales, Purchasing, and Operational personnel to provide relevant information to meet customer requirements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for continual improvement of key functions and activities to improve efficiency and meet increasing customer and business demands.
  • Ensure labor is balanced across departments to meet daily business needs, minimize overtime, and reduce labor costs.
  • Maintain a professional, helpful attitude in dealings with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to validating Kronos punches and executing performance appraisal processes.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • Strong understanding of production processes and performance metrics.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards, including OSHA and ISO policies.
  • Experience with performance tracking and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with 6S and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and quality control processes.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced logistics or supply chain environment.
