About The Position

The Operations Superintendent at West Liberty Foods is responsible for overseeing daily production on the assigned shift, focusing on both ready-to-eat and raw processes. This role ensures the efficient and safe manufacturing of quality products while adhering to company policies and procedures. The position requires strong leadership skills to manage departmental supervisors and maintain production schedules, safety standards, and compliance with USDA regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience including supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a team of resourceful and skilled team members.
  • Must be able to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Must be able to problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
  • Advanced computer skills including Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of UKG/Kronos or other timekeeping system.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
  • Coaching and performance management experience a plus.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends if needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the activities of the assigned departmental supervisors including production volume, cost, quality and production schedules.
  • Confers with the Operations Manager and Scheduling to establish working schedules for all departments connected with production.
  • Monitors safety activity and training, attaining recordable and lost time goals, and operating in compliance with all plant and OSHA requirements.
  • Reviews yields variance and productivity reports daily and reports any negative variances to the Plant Manager along with corrective action.
  • Coordinates equipment and facility maintenance with the Maintenance Department.
  • Works with Human Resources to ensure departments are fully staffed and communicates any vacancies promptly.
  • Leads teams and applies root cause analysis to implement corrective measures for production opportunities.
  • Provides leadership for all supervisors, ensuring they perform to their potential and work together to achieve departmental goals.
  • Approves all personnel changes within the area of responsibility.
  • Works with supervisors to reduce employee concerns and promote cooperation among team members.
  • Ensures the completion of all scheduled monthly safety training.
  • Ensures USDA requests and requirements are addressed and followed within compliance.

Benefits

  • Compensation starting at a minimum of $80,000 per year.
