About The Position

The Operations Specialist Afterhours position works Friday - Monday. The schedule is 8 hour days on Fridays & Mondays and 12 hour days on Saturday & Sunday, OR the candidate may choose to work 4 10-hour days instead . This nonexempt position is responsible for maintaining the afterhours and weekend operations on behalf of the company by taking complete responsibility ensuring that all customer requirements are completely met.

Requirements

  • AS400 experience
  • Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent data entry/keyboard skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with carriers and drivers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to seek alternative solutions.
  • Self-directed, displays initiative and can work independently.
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Understands the basic concept of supply chain.
  • Team player with proven ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • High school diploma/GED required.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree highly preferred.
  • Supply chain; logistics; or transportation industry experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Complete accurate and timely scheduling and dispatching of trucks to ensure that the flow of product in and out meets customer demands.
  • Negotiate with transportation providers to obtain the best rates and service.
  • Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery so that accurate, up-to-date information can be provided regarding any shipment (track & trace)
  • Provides constant communications of service issues to appropriate personnel and departments, both internal and external
  • Update and maintain transportation management and operations system.
  • Prioritizes tasks and workload to focus on issues that directly impact quality and service performance.
  • Adheres to company standards on customer satisfaction, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solutions.
  • Provide complex problem resolution and provides guidance to others.
  • Utilize specialized industry and company computer systems and procedures, reference materials/documentation and personal industry knowledge to process client shipments.
  • Maintains regular, timely, and consistent attendance at work.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Consistently demonstrate professional, respectful behavior to all.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
