The Operations Specialist I role is an entry-level, front-line monitoring position within the TOMONI HUB Analytics and Performance Center. This role focuses on real-time monitoring of Mitsubishi Power’s fleet, ensuring timely identification and documentation of operational events. Team members follow established procedures, monitor dashboards and alarms, and communicate key observations to leadership and engineering staff for continued analysis. In this role, the specialist ensures that events are accurately logged, shift-to-shift handovers are clear, and customer notifications are delivered according to predefined templates. Situational awareness is maintained in a 24/7 environment and supports seamless operations through disciplined adherence to workflow standards. The TOMONI HUB functions as Mitsubishi Power’s analytics and performance center, responsible for 24/7 monitoring, diagnostics, and performance assessment for a global fleet of power-generation assets. Due to the continuous nature of fleet support, specialists are required to participate in rotating shift coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure uninterrupted monitoring and customer support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Aerospace, Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and technical training. Qualifying experience of at least four (4) years may include operation or maintenance of power-generation equipment, industrial machinery, control and automation systems, or propulsion systems.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with engineering or data tools such as Visual Basic, SharePoint, Power BI, AVEVA PI, ECG Predict-It, TopView, or PTC Windchill is a plus.
  • Travel overnight as needed (approximately 0 to 5 percent), by land, air, or sea. x Participate proactively in team efforts to achieve departmental and company objectives. x Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Be available to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure uninterrupted monitoring and customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor real-time fleet dashboards, alarms, and notifications to identify operational events and abnormal conditions.
  • Log events accurately in accordance with established documentation standards and workflow procedures.
  • Report initial observations, abnormal findings, and worthy events to escalation-tier Operations Specialists and Engineering Teams following the defined communication workflows.
  • Support shift-to-shift continuity by preparing clear, complete, and timely handover notes.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for event response, customer notifications, and reporting to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
  • Maintain situational awareness of fleet status throughout the shift through both reactive and proactive monitoring tools.
  • Assist with organizing information, screenshots, trend captures, and other data requested by team members.
  • Complete required training and certification program to develop proficiency with monitoring tools, operational systems, and fleet fundamentals.
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient monitoring environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
