About The Position

Primary purpose: Implement the Company Damage Prevention Program including performing and coordinating work group activities including patrolling, locating, construction inspection, and excavation inspection of Company gas/liquids pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations and other related facilities. Responsible for performing and documenting the operations and maintenance activities performed on company assets necessary to maintain reliability and compliance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Achieve and maintain all qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.
  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.
  • Good record of safe work practices.
  • Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Experience reading and interpreting Project plans, drawings, diagrams, etc.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate
  • Ability to lift up to 42 pounds from waist to waist and carry objects weighing up to 42 pounds for distances of 20 feet.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying materials such as boxes of flags (22 pounds) and augers (32 pounds) using proper manual handling techniques.
  • Must be able to push and pull equipment weighing up to approximately 42 pounds, including post hole diggers and other tools.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs safely, including extension ladders and standard stairs or steps.
  • Ability to walk a minimum of 1/4 mile (0.25 miles) and up to 2 miles on a daily basis over rough, uneven, or challenging terrain.
  • Required to perform manual tasks involving bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and crawling as part of inspection and construction activities.
  • Manual dexterity needed for grasping, pinching, fine motor movements, and operating hand-held tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform whole body motions such as reaching at overhead, shoulder, waist, and knee levels, including reaching with extension and circumduction.
  • Capable of performing physical activities like walking, standing, and climbing in various environmental conditions, including exposure to wet, cold, hot, and vibrating environments.
  • Living environs will be relative to work location to address call outs and emergency response.
  • Must respond to, and address, callouts, and emergencies after regular business hours.
  • Depending on location and workload, travel will be required.
  • Will be required to carry a personal cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The selected candidate must successfully pass a drug screening, background check, and fit-for-duty examination, including credit reports for specific positions—after receiving a job offer and before commencing employment
  • Position will work Traditional Monday through Friday schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Company policies, procedures and practices, regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high- and low-pressure systems.
  • Previous experience in public speaking.
  • Have a valid certificate as a Competent person in Trenching and Shoring.
  • Previous Line Locating experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Wyoming One-Call Law.
  • Familiar with CGA Best Practices and their usefulness
  • Knowledge in utilizing GIS mapping systems.
  • Experience in the excavation of underground utilities utilizing traditional and trenchless techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and mark facilities per Company Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures prior to and during excavations.
  • Perform pipeline patrols, population density surveys, leak detection surveys and inspection per Company procedures.
  • Coordinate local Damage Prevention and Public Awareness liaison activities and complete appropriate documentation as outlined in Company Public Awareness Plan.
  • Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with Company procedures for excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
  • Represent the Company during contact with landowner/tenants, public officials/emergency officials and at local meetings. (One-Call, Pipeline Groups, Soil Conservation, USFS, etc.)
  • Train and oversee company and third-party personnel as required by Company Policies and Procedures (e.g., personnel and progression, contractors, visitors . . .).
  • Perform governmental compliance activities (PHMSA, State Agencies, EPA, USFS, etc.). and complete the necessary documentation per Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform mapping, recordkeeping, and data entry duties per Company policies and Procedures.
  • Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Conduct right-of-way inspections to identify and address Geotechnical concerns with the potential of adversely impacting Company assets.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives and contribute to Site Specific Procedures and work plans.
  • Complete all applicable documentation and recordkeeping; perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory and Company tariff requirements.
  • Install, repair, service and maintain valves, pipe, and pipeline appurtenances.
  • Operate, maintain, adjust, and make minor repairs on equipment such as industrial wheeled tractors, water pumps, air compressors, expanders, coolers, test equipment, vehicles, etc.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Actively participate in safety programs/initiatives, assist in the development of O&M procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.
  • General upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment (pipeline right-of-way, gathering/storage areas, excavate/repair/coat/backfill pipelines, building construction, concrete work, paint, weed control, etc.)
  • Demonstrate performance towards operational excellence.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the public.
