The Production Shift Supervisor has responsibility for the safe and successful production of all products and processes within the team and uses continuous improvement techniques to drive development in all areas of the business. Some overtime or weekend work may be necessary. This position is an immediate, direct hire with competitive pay. This position will oversee 3rd shift. Standard work hours will be 11:00 pm – 07:30 am M-F. Some extended shifts of 7:00 pm – 7:30 am may be required to cover vacation. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in plastics processing facility preferred.
  • Proficient with SAP, and Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to work well with a team and independently adjust plan as needed to meet overall plant goals.
  • Effective problem solver
  • Ability to work overtime or weekends on short notice as needed
  • Ability to apply basic mathematics skills
  • Ability to work proactively and support other personnel and departments.
  • Possess a professional attitude and strong interpersonal skills in leading and mentoring team members
  • Stand on feet for 8-12 hours
  • May be required to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Forklift experience a plus
  • Ability to work with potentially hazardous materials
  • Willing and able to comply with respiratory fit testing (where applicable)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to be worn
  • Ability to work in moderate noise level atmosphere
  • Ability to work in an environment that is not temperature-controlled; very warm temperatures in summer months

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma, 5-S is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implements, complies with and encourages team members to adhere to all safety requirements resulting in zero safety violations. This includes participating in all Lyondell safety related activities such as GoalZERO and Operational Excellence Standards, along with safety talks, behavioral based safety observations, audits, etc.
  • Accountable for all aspects of the shift. Including but not limited to: safety, environmental, production output, minimizing scrap and off-spec product, maintaining correct paperwork and labeling for accurate material accounting.
  • Is responsible for the development of operators: including interviewing, onboarding, training/coaching, and improving the training process as needed.
  • Supervises operational processes and activities to ensure all products meet all established quality requirements, including product integrity and product order documentation
  • Directs all related personnel actions to include performance management, promotion, time/attendance records, and disciplinary actions
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and enter work notifications for maintenance to correct small issues before they escalate.
  • Proactively monitor and adjust processes to ensure the units stay within defined operating limits.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot plastic equipment and process problems
  • Understands manufacturing priorities based on established weekly productions schedules and allocates resources and adjusts as necessary to provide the best outcome for the site.
  • Assist operators in problem solving
  • Directs routine equipment cleaning, maintenance, and set-up.
  • Takes leadership role for training and coaching activities, along with continuous improvement activities.
  • Promotes and maintains a team work environment.
  • Ensures that product quality standards and production deadlines are met
  • Provides first-hand accounts on how to improve equipment and work processes.
  • Effectively communicates operation status to operations management and oncoming shifts.
