The Operations Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining our safety and compliance programs. You'll work closely with drivers, Independent Owner Operators, and internal operations teams to ensure everyone stays ahead of regulatory requirements - including inspections, Medical Cards, DOT renewals, and other mission-critical deadlines. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Safety, Transportation, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in transportation safety, compliance, or risk management.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with driver qualification or fleet management systems.
  • Familiarity with Tenstreet and Samsara ELD systems.
  • Van line / agent network / transportation company experience.
  • Safety/compliance certifications (NATMI, CDS, CSS).

Responsibilities

  • Manage Driver Qualification Files: Keep driver records fully compliant with Unigroup, FMCSA, and company policies.
  • Maintain Equipment Qualification Files: Ensure trucks/trailers meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Keep Everyone Ahead of Deadlines: Help Independent Owner Operators and employees stay current on inspections, Medical Cards, DOT requirements, and other regulatory renewals - no surprises on your watch.
  • Coordinate Safety Training: Support and organize safety meetings, webinars, and coaching sessions for drivers.
  • Analyze Safety Metrics: Review performance data, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coach Drivers on Logs: Address logging issues, provide ELD training, and help prevent recurring violations.
  • Assist with Compliance Reviews: Support DOT compliance audits and internal safety reviews.
  • Communicate Clearly: Share safety updates, policy changes, and regulatory requirements with drivers and internal teams.
  • Support Safety Initiatives: Assist the Safety Department with documentation, reporting, and special projects.
