About The Position

This is an advertisement for a Regional Operations Fatality Review Specialist that will serve the Northeast Region Current Employees will be compensated in accordance with the DCF salary policy This is a highly responsible position requiring extensive knowledge of child abuse, neglect and experience in child protection programs and therefore must maintain an expertise in all administrative rules and statewide policies regarding family safety requirements related to children served through Investigations, in-home and out-of-home care. The incumbent assigned to regional program office team must be able to develop and implement methods for monitoring and evaluating quality of service, compliance with rules, policies, and statutes in all child welfare program areas. The incumbent must demonstrate the Department's values of integrity, accountability, responsiveness, empowerment, collaboration, innovation, personal responsibility, quality, urgency, and choice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current/Active Child Protection Certification from the FCB
  • Minimum 5 years of child welfare experience that includes child protective investigations
  • Must maintain an active/valid driver license
  • Must be able and willing to travel throughout the Region as required
  • Must be a subject matter expert in Florida's Child Welfare Safety Practice framework/model
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Must have documented training experience
  • Experience with instruction or training
  • Experience with public speaking
  • Knowledge of training methodologies
  • Knowledge of learning management systems
  • Knowledge of competency assessment
  • Planning and organizing
  • Presentation, facilitation and coaching skills
  • Operational experience in child protective investigations
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data and information

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the preparation and planning for child abuse and neglect fatality reviews including child protective investigations, case management services, individual case reviews, validation monitoring, statewide program reviews and federal compliance/quality services reviews.
  • Leads and is a reviewer for fatality investigations within child protective investigations. Organizes and assigns review team responsibilities and activities. Duties include establishing the review sample, review site logistics, and assigning cases, when applicable.
  • Research applicable laws, rules or policies. Develops review standards and data collection tools, if needed.
  • Analyzes data available in automated information systems on child protection programs. Reviews case files to collect review data.
  • Interviews staff, to gain additional perspective on review findings when needed. Ensures case consultations occur for all reviews with the CPI, supervisor and assigned program administrator.
  • Assists with In-service and practice model child fatality training to CPI staff in the Northeast Region as assigned.
  • Develops and presents training for community providers or groups as assigned.
  • Provides technical assistance to the circuits or community-based care agencies on various types of programmatic or systemic issues.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
