About The Position

Enterprise Solutions (ES) is seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and talented Operations Research (OR) Scientist to join a team that is responsible for optimizing Delta's revenue offers. The OR scientist will collaborate on designing, delivering, and maintaining proprietary optimization products that result in improved customer offers and increased revenue for Delta Air Lines. The role partners across Digital, Revenue Management, Pricing, Global Pricing Distribution, Operations Research, IT, and vendors to identify opportunities, define requirements, provide insights, prototype products, and deliver end-to-end solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent in operations research, statistics, computer science, or related science field
• Highly proficient communication skills and ability to actively advocate for ES solutions across the enterprise
• Experience with data scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R etc.) and optimization software (e.g. Gurobi, Xpress, or Cplex.)
• Experience using one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C, etc.)
• Experience with big data: processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities of data
• Proven success in modeling complex quantitative problems, especially using MIP
• Must have the ability to work well with diverse groups in a time sensitive and team environment with minimal supervision, be results oriented and capable of meeting or exceeding deadlines with attention to detail and follow through
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects through to solution delivery
• Strong focus on building team culture and driving collaboration across the broader organization
• Must be performing satisfactorily in present position
• Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
• Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
• Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. in operations research, statistics, computer science, or related science field
• Experience with MIP, time series modeling, and data structures and algorithms
• 2+ years of industry experience in data science or operations research
• Demonstrated business acumen and/or Revenue Management experience

Responsibilities

• Understand the interrelationships between Schedules, Pricing, and Revenue Management, and the combined impact on the Delta Customer experience
• Identify commercial opportunities that can be addressed by developing data sources, methods, tools and models to optimize Delta revenue, including statistics and optimization modeling
• Enhance existing analytical tools and develop new solutions/tools based on large data sets
• Own and deliver end-to-end solutions
• Promote the long-term customer offer vision that supports Delta's business strategy as the marketplace evolves and new products are introduced
• Actively develop close relations and coordinate with commercial business units, Operations Research, Finance, IT and senior management to ensure timely execution of ES sponsored projects
• Maintain a pulse on industry efforts and disruptive technologies, and champion solutions to further Delta's position as industry leader
• Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
