About The Position

POSITION OVERVIEW: Function as a member of an integrated team/group providing technical guidance to a technical workforce and meeting customer requirements for products and/or services. Apply tools such as but not limited to: Risk Management, Configuration Management, Data Management, Trade-off Analysis/Trade Studies, Technical Performance Measurement, Technical Reviews, Modeling and Simulation or Earned Value Management. Serves as the expert technical authority for DoD and AFGSC Data Modernization and Analytical Integration and provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or major phases for broad and varied operations. Performs studies of large-scale complex projects, modifying/adapting techniques to fit situations, some requiring innovative approaches. Utilizes scientific inquiry in the independent development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems. Conducts and coordinates research, analyzes resource data, and facilitates the technology transfer of analytical results and investigations. Research and development of project management for statistical data analytics to evaluate, design and develop analytical procedures and processes. Analyzes actual and predictable, interacting, operational activities of a military, governmental, or business system to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision-making through the application of logic and scientific or economic disciplines and techniques. Assists in planning, scheduling, and coordinating selected analytical process phases or in working any selection of subcomponents of the exercise/gaming activity. Applies technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Possesses specific knowledge of analytical models, simulations and gaming tools. Devises modeling and measuring techniques; utilizes mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, operational mathematics techniques (linear programming, game theory, probability theory, symbolic language, etc.) and other principles and laws of scientific and economic disciplines. Develops technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Performs studies of large-scale complex projects, modifying/adapting techniques to fit situations, some requiring innovative approaches. Work is performed with appreciable direction but exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Uses expert level knowledge to utilize common data science tools, including scripted languages (such as R, Python, SQL, and JavaScript), analytics platforms, open-source/commercial off-the - shelf solutions to develop data science products. Research and development of project management for statistical data analytics to evaluate, design and develop analytical procedures and processes. Uses Computational algorithms and statistical methods that find patterns and relationships in large volumes of data sourced from advanced hardware and software. Utilizes scientific inquiry in the independent development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems. Conducts and coordinates research, analyzes resource data, and facilitates the technology transfer of analytical results and investigations. Collaborates with program data scientists by developing research designs and applying appropriate statistical analyses. Designs equations and compilation algorithms for statistical data management and estimation applications used to produce reports and online queries. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with USG and SBCC staff and other agencies in order to share information and learn the latest developments in analytical tools and techniques to efficiently assist USG with mission-related work. Communicates with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates: Conducts or attends staff meetings, Consults with managerial or supervisory personnel. Interacts With Computers, Processing Information, and Monitors Processes

Requirements

  • Knowledge of mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AF, Department of Defense (DoD) and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s).
  • Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material.
  • Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, resolve complex issues or problems, and modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems.
  • Skill, judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and ability to foresee the impact of changing technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in order to produce highly technical reports, position papers, and briefings; resolve conflicts based on mature judgment and experience; effectively negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.
  • Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the master's level) that is appropriate for the position.
  • 5-7 years of experience
  • Secret Clearance required, Top Secret is preferred
