About The Position

Second Harvest seeks a part- time, fixed - term hands-on Project Manager to develop and manage the cross‑functional portfolio that prepares Operations for the consolidation of our two San Jose warehouses into a single Alviso facility. The role leads end‑to‑end supply chain projects from procure‑to‑pay (P2P) through receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations (slotting, picking, packing, staging), shipping/dock flow, distribution, sanitation/5S, and returns/residuals so the new site opens with safe, efficient, scalable processes, standard operating procedures, and Key performance indicators.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of applicable operations/supply chain/warehouse project or program management experience.
  • Demonstrated success building SOPs, KPIs, and change plans in active warehouse environments.
  • Familiar with WMS/TMS, inventory control, and Lean/5S; Excel/Sheets and basic data visualization.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills across frontline to executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated/frozen areas, on warehouse floors and around food including potential allergens (PPE as required).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, directly related work experience preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt; experience with CMMS or dock/appointment systems; cold‑chain and food safety exposure.
  • Bilingual (e.g., Spanish/English) and experience in union environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery, process mapping (current- future state), charters, plans, RAID logs, stakeholder maps, and change plans.
  • Define KPIs and build simple dashboards (e.g., P2P cycle time, OTIF/fill rate, inventory accuracy, dock‑to‑stock, equipment uptime, sanitation audit scores, safety).
  • Coordinate resources across Supply Chain, Warehouse, Facilities, Sanitation, Inventory, Receiving, Fleet/Transportation, Finance/AP, Food Sourcing/Donations, Agency/Programs, and IT.
  • Standardize need identification- requisition- approval- PO/vendor selection-goods receipt- invoice verification- payment- recordkeeping with quality gates and segregation of duties.
  • Partner with Finance/AP on three‑way match and exception handling; align category strategies with capacity and service targets.
  • Improve receiving, putaway, slotting, picking, packing, staging, shipping/appointment practices and dock utilization.
  • Strengthen inventory control (cycle counts, FEFO, lot/expiration tracking, cold‑chain checks, reconciliations).
  • Codify warehouse sanitation/5S standards and audit routines.
  • Support returns/residuals workflows and material disposition
  • As Ops stakeholder, support CMMS (maintenance work orders/PMs, asset registry) and Dock Scheduling (carrier/agency appointments, yard flow)- IT is accountable for implementation.
  • End‑to‑end warehouse flow for the new site; receiving lanes/QC, putaway & slotting logic aligned to layout, pick/pack/stage design, agency/customer pickup guidance.
  • Move orchestration: equipment move & commissioning, inventory relocation (FEFO/lot control), cold‑chain continuity, carrier/agency appointment ramp.
  • Operational readiness for IT reconfiguration & migration; partner with People Team on training/change in a union environment; visual management (metrics boards/TVs) at go‑live.
