About The Position
Altec is currently seeking an Operations & Procurement Intern to join our team at the Altec Midwest Facility in St. Joseph, Missouri. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business or related fields, particularly those entering their 3rd or 4th year of study. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting various operations and procurement functions within the company, which has a rich history of over 90 years in the industry. Altec specializes in the design, manufacture, sale, and service of aerial devices, digger derricks, cranes, and specialty equipment, serving customers in more than 100 countries worldwide. The intern will be involved in maintaining supplier performance scorecards, which evaluate suppliers based on quality, delivery, and cost. Additionally, the intern will assist in maintaining supplier certification documents and evaluating potential suppliers. This role will also require maintaining supplier records related to governmental programs that focus on small business and diversity spending. The intern will collaborate with engineering and production associates on cost-saving initiatives and participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen activities. Furthermore, the intern will assist with accounts payable projects, maintain accurate material pricing, procure components for assembly lines, and manage inventory levels to ensure that necessary components are readily available. The intern will also have the opportunity to initiate cost-saving opportunities with suppliers and work on any other special projects as needed. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to a dynamic team while gaining valuable experience in operations and procurement.
