About The Position

The Operations PMO Leader—North America establishes and leads a regional PMO that powers consistent execution across complex, multi‑site programs in multi-year customer delivery portfolios. You’ll govern the portfolio, programs, and projects that enable our North American growth while partnering with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Business Unit leaders to drive predictable delivery, risk transparency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, construction management or related field with 5+ experience working in quality or operational role
  • Experience leading PMO or project delivery organizations in complex, project‑based operations environments
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, enabling effective stakeholder alignment and structured portfolio execution
  • Experience developing project management capability, including onboarding, coaching, and continuous skill development for project managers, planners/schedulers, and project controls professionals
  • Deep knowledge of project controls disciplines such as planning and scheduling, cost control, risk and opportunity management, change management, and contract or claim processes
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project management capability and foster a culture of execution excellence and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge on SAP and Primavera P6 as Project Manager user level

Responsibilities

  • PMO Strategy & Governance Establish and institutionalize consistent, standardized execution models across all North America Operations projects, aligned with global Hitachi Energy PMO frameworks and best practices. This includes standardized WBS structures, lifecycle stage gates, risk and change processes, and reporting methodologies. Drive governance mechanisms that ensure consistent application of project controls, contract/claim management, reporting standards, and high‑quality fact-based project documentation.
  • Portfolio & Delivery Management Own the North America operations portfolio performance for On-Time delivery (OTD) and On-Time Performance metrics (OTP). Drive decision‑ready insights using fact-based data from our information systems.
  • Operating Rhythm & Continuous Improvement Drive a Lean and Continuous Improvement culture across projects (lessons learned, standardization, digitalization).
  • Stakeholder & People Leadership Lead and coach a team of program managers, project managers, planner/schedulers, and financial controllers; set capability standards for project control, risk, and contracts. Serve as the lead interface with Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Controls, Finance, and HSE coordinating with global PMO/BU PMOs to ensure methodology alignment.
  • Project Manager Capability Development, Talent Pipeline & Onboarding Lead a structured onboarding for all new Project Managers, including curriculum, tools familiarization (schedule, cost, risk, quality, digital PM systems), processes, and expectations for operating within Hitachi Energy’s safety, ethics, and delivery methodology. Own the Project Manager certification - ensuring PMs achieve and maintain these credentials, supported by training, coaching, and PMO‑led competency assessments. Serve as a coach and mentor to project managers, planners, and financial controllers driving maturity in planning, controls, stakeholder engagement, risk management, commercial awareness, and digital PM capability.
  • Digitalization, BIM, and AI Ready Champion digital transformation across Operations project delivery, accelerating adoption of advanced tools, including: 4D scheduling integration (linking schedules to model-based sequencing) 5D cost modeling for forecasting, estimating, cost control, and change impacts AI-driven predictive analytics for risk detection, schedule slippage forecasting, and equipment/supply‑chain early-warning indicators Digital workflows that strengthen decision‑making and drive consistent, transparent portfolio health reporting. Partner with Engineering, IT, and global PMO teams to ensure digital solutions integrate into project controls, document management, and reporting ecosystems. Promote data standards and fidelity across all digital project artifacts to support portfolio reporting and long-term operational continuity.
  • Document Controls Team Integration & Information Governance Integrate document controls as a core PMO function, building a regional document controls team, defining metadata standards, workflows, version governance, and enabling digital tools that support traceability, compliance, and secure information exchange across projects. Ensure document control practices comply with Hitachi Energy’s governance standards, supplier requirements, and regulatory obligations. Implement workflows that ensure accurate versioning, secure distribution, quality checks, approvals, and audit-ready traceability across all project phases.
  • Driving Execution Excellence & Continuous Improvement Lead closed-loop lessons learned and continuous improvement cycles, ensuring findings feed into standardized templates, stage-gate criteria, execution playbooks, and digital PM repositories. Partner with Operations leadership to use analytics, digitalization, and AI insights to continuously refine planning accuracy, productivity, and delivery predictability.
