The Operations Page position at the Lakewood Library involves providing high-level customer service and support to library patrons.   • Deliver high-level customer service skills to determine patron needs.

  • Respond to patrons' requests for assistance via various communication methods.
  • Train patrons in the use of self-check-out machines and automatic material handling systems.
  • Process library materials including checking in/out and routing as needed.
  • Perform basic author/title and informational searches.
  • Maintain records including computer and tangible files.
  • Collect statistical information pertaining to circulation and patronage.
  • Generate requests for daily maintenance of library computers.
  • Prepare items to be shelved or repaired.
  • Determine the status of damaged materials and recommend charges as appropriate.
  • Answer in-person inquiries and help patrons locate needed materials.
  • Ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Notify supervisors of non-routine problems as they arise.
  • Use library computer systems and automated equipment.
  • Submit records and reports as required by library management.
  • Participate in the design and creation of displays and informational aids.
  • Assist with the general appearance and safety of the library location.
  • Coordinate the work and schedules of ancillary staff and volunteers.

  • Customer service experience of at least 1 year.
