Drive rigor and support for operations in the form of documentation, communication and change management. Monitor OEE and quality metrics amongst all areas with a focus on performance visibility for operators.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Junior standing or higher.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
  • Be interested in working for Corning after graduation if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location: Harrodsburg, KY
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operators follow procedures and address knowledge gaps.
  • Coordinate with Shift Supervisors for consistent execution.
  • Roll out training programs to improve operator proficiency.
  • Collaborate with Plant Engineering to integrate new technologies.
  • Analyze OEE data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Highlight engineering gaps and prioritize solutions.
  • Promote Process Control and Process Discipline practices.
  • Lead cost reduction, Lean, and Process Excellence projects.
  • Build strong relationships with Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams.
  • Represent Operations in planning, meetings, and safety initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop operational tools and documents.
