The position supervises the profitable and safe operation of the manufacturing function in a growth environment. This is accomplished through employee motivation, plant scheduling and machine loading, proper maintenance and care of equipment, assuring a quality product, maintaining good management/employee relations, recommending new equipment and capital assets, and controlling plant costs. The role is critical in ensuring that the manufacturing processes align with the company's goals of advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. In this position, the supervisor will oversee approximately 140-160 employees, including 3 direct reports. The primary focus will be on satisfying customers through quality products and on-time deliveries while obtaining a high level of plant productivity through continuous improvement initiatives. The supervisor will also ensure an effective maintenance program and personnel, directing plant supervision to maintain quality levels necessary to minimize rejects, reworks, and field problems. Keeping abreast of new manufacturing technology and equipment is essential, as is directing and advising an ongoing safety program to minimize the frequency and severity of accidents. The supervisor will maintain a secure plant with minimal loss of tools and inventory, implement and maintain an effective MRO storeroom, and evaluate man-hour requirements for unusual and large jobs to assist the sales force. Regular reviews of reports will be necessary to analyze department and employee performance levels, and maintaining good employee relations is a key responsibility. The supervisor will also demonstrate a commitment to the Valmont Safety Mission Statement and participate in the development and implementation of the annual Site SBO Plan, ensuring that all tasks assigned to this position are completed. This role requires collaboration with Accounting and PC to attain the financial goals set by upper management and involves dealing with employee issues in partnership with Human Resources. Some travel and association with other Valmont facilities will be required.
