The Operations Manager oversees all operations related to the processing of product by implementing policies and procedures that guide plant operations’ safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. Reporting directly to the company President and is a member of the Leadership Team, the Operations Manager collaborates with multi-functional teams, including finance, engineering, quality assurance, and human resources.

  • Leads, manages, and holds operations personnel accountable to company goals and values.
  • Meets and exceeds targets for operational efficiency, and product quality.
  • Provides direction and leadership for all aspects of multiple operations in manufacturing including, but not limited to: operations planning, budgeting, continual improvement, quality process, production cost management, and flow.
  • Coaches, councils, plans and trains operations employees to improve individual skills.
  • Develops and implements operations strategies that improve execution.
  • Plans and executes organizational and physical changes needed to ensure success.
  • Drives initiatives in the Jones Metal, Inc. management team that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Collaborates with leaders across the organization participating in qualifying potential business, operational review of proposals, continual improvement, communicating on current production performance trends, strategic planning, and budgeting.
  • Leads and assists with continuous growth year after year, through innovative solutions delivered in a repeatable, scalable and cost-effective manner.
  • Drives collaboration between departments and ensures that best practices are implemented and shared throughout the company.
  • Utilizes ERP system to analyze and report actual vs. estimate performance and to recommend benchmarks and metrics for measuring and improving operations in support of company goals and customer expectations.
  • Supervises colleagues in a manner that maintains morale, skills proficiency and productivity.
  • 7+ years of production manufacturing experience, job shop experience preferred.
  • BS degree in manufacturing or management required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead conversations and interactive dialog on difficult topics keeping it productive and respectful.
  • Use analytical skills to problem solve and provide innovative solutions, results oriented.
  • Experienced in the use and maintenance of company ERP systems.
  • Six sigma/Lean experience, green belt preferred.
  • A strong working knowledge of all functional areas of manufacturing (finance, sales, engineering, quality).
