The Operations Manager at Continental Carbon is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the Production, Shipping, and Maintenance Departments within the Ponca City facility. This position entails planning, directing, controlling, and managing all aspects of these departments to ensure optimal performance and alignment with corporate strategies and objectives. The Operations Manager will focus on optimizing safety, quality, efficiency, and costs while managing all equipment, hardware, and personnel assigned to these departments. In this role, the Operations Manager will develop expertise in coordinating, prioritizing, and directing the activities of the Production and Maintenance Departments. Effective communication with the Plant General Manager and department heads is essential to share pertinent information and collaborate on strategic initiatives. The Operations Manager will also share Profit and Loss responsibility with the Plant General Manager, ensuring that performance objectives outlined in the Company Annual Operating Plan (AOP) are met. Functional responsibilities include managing the safe utilization of all departmental resources to provide reliable service to customers, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, and adjusting organizational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The Operations Manager will lead efforts to improve efficiencies, yields, quality, and economics, while generating and maintaining various reports to track performance. Additionally, this role involves planning and coordinating technical activities, assisting in budget preparations, analyzing cost data, and scheduling plant maintenance to minimize downtime. The Operations Manager will also play a key role in staff selection, training, and development, ensuring a safety-conscious workforce and adherence to union labor agreements. The ideal candidate will possess a high energy level, strong management skills, and the ability to foster relationships with customers, suppliers, and community leaders. A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related science field, along with a strong background in carbon black manufacturing, is required. Proficiency in PC applications and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.
