About The Position

Vault 44.01 (“Vault”) is a leading carbon capture & storage (“CCS”) developer focused on the development, capitalization, and operation of carbon storage assets throughout North America. Vault’s team brings over 90 years of direct carbon storage experience, with involvement in the development of carbon storage projects across North America since 2007. Vault’s capabilities span technical analysis, project design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, land leasing and acquisition, facility construction, and operations. In collaboration with our industrial partners, we are currently developing CCS projects in the US Midwest, US Southeast, and Canada focusing on single CO2 source, near-site sequestration projects and including 7 projects currently under contract. Vault has secured a US$300 million equity capital commitment from Grey Rock Investment Partners (Dallas, TX based private equity company) and has offices in Denver, CO and Calgary, AB. Vault is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the planning, development, and execution of Vault’s operational and HSE goals. As the leader of the Operations team and reporting to Vault’s COO, the Operations Manager will be responsible for leadership of Operations of wells, pipelines, compression facilities and HSE, with specific oversight of daily operations and maintenance programs. The responsibility will span all phases of Vault’s operations planning as projects progress from concept to design, build, commission and operate. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day maintenance, performance optimization, and safety of carbon capture units, compression facilities, pipelines, and geological storage sites. This role ensures that CO2 capture and storage processes are efficient, compliant with strict environmental regulations (such as EPA Class VI permits), and aligned with company sustainability goals

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field, preferred.
  • Experience: 15 years of operations experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial facilities; 3+ years in CCUS or emissions management preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proven leadership in operations and maintenance of complex process systems.
  • Regulatory Familiarity: Knowledge of EPA Class VI injection well permits and monitoring protocols.
  • Leadership: Strong team management, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with MS Office, SCADA and maintenance management software.
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States of America
  • Travel to operating facilities required.
  • The role frequently operates in field office environments, often located near industrial facilities.
  • The role requires on-call availability for incident response and may involve exposure to hazardous environments, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Manage the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of CCUS facilities, including commissioning and startup of new systems.
  • Safety & Compliance: Implement and enforce rigorous health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with regulatory, state, and federal laws.
  • Monitoring & Optimization: Oversee Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) protocols for CO2 storage, and optimize plant performance to reduce energy consumption.
  • Team Management: Lead, train, and develop a team of operators and technicians, fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence.
  • Maintenance Programs: Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for specialized CCUS assets, including amine systems and compressors.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Develop operating budgets, manage vendor contracts, and identify opportunities to improve cost-effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with engineering, project development, and commercial teams to provide input during project design and technology selection.
