About The Position

Del Monte Fresh Produce Company Inc. is a global leader in fresh fruits and vegetables, delivering quality products from farm to table. Del Monte Foods (DMC Foods Inc.), the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, is seeking an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and driving strategies that will improve overall labeling and shipping processes to increase and sustain equipment up-time; while lowering repair costs, material inventory levels, and operational costs. This position reports to the Site Director for the safe, effective, and efficient use of all manpower, materials, parts, and other resources under their control. Under minimal direction, the Operations Manager is responsible for defining, implementing, and managing the systems, organizational structure, and processes necessary to achieve and sustain the expected overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The Operations Manager will have direct reports including production and maintenance supervisors and will be responsible for labeling, maintenance, shipping, receiving functions on a three-shift operation. Through their efforts, the team will create a proactive culture which fosters open communication and trust.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred, or equivalent work experience with minimum of 5-10 years experience in manufacturing/distribution positions required.
  • Non-degreed candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of directly-related work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Plant Operations Management positions required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead Root Cause Analysis reviews.
  • Must possess a demonstrated high degree of tact in dealing with both plant staff and maintenance personnel.
  • Prior experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and WMS (Warehouse Management System).
  • Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills required.
  • Excellent administrative and analytical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills required.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and priorities at one time.
  • Strong PC-skills relating to spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs.
  • Experience managing/coordinating a behavioral based safety process.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and be self-directed.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within general company guidelines.
  • High degree of collaboration within team.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize key projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred
  • Experience within a food manufacturing setting strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates excellent environmental, health and safety programs.
  • Develops and controls the production and maintenance budgets that provide for optimized spending to achieve the agreed upon OEE.
  • Develops and ensures standard work processes are followed.
  • Tracks production and maintenance KPIs. Analyzes operational data and equipment performance history to deliver metrics / KPIs.
  • Leads the reliability process to continuously improve equipment uptime and reduce related maintenance costs.
  • Works with maintenance to deploy, execute and continuously improve Standard Maintenance Procedures on plant equipment.
  • Oversee the production and maintenance workforce to develop skills assessments and on-going training programs.
  • Reviews the parts inventory to maintain critical spares, minimize necessary inventory and automate materials requisition functions.
  • Periodically benchmarks current performance with internal and external sources to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Fosters a culture that does not tolerate equipment failures and seeks to understand and eliminate the causes using techniques such as Root Cause Analysis.
  • Support the deployment and ongoing improvement of plant preventative maintenance program. Document corrective action on preventive maintenance performed.
  • Quality and Food Safety – Ensure maintenance of machineries and construction of equipment to meet quality and food safety standards. Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Del Monte Foods Quality Systems to assure compliance with quality and food safety requirements.
  • Develop and Deploy Standard work to improve Safety, Quality, Attainment and OEE KPI performance within your area of responsibility
  • Develop and Deploy improvement strategy for equipment and human resource assets to achieve required business performance targets.
  • Hire, coach and continually strengthen site operations team.
  • Support and help build culture of continuous improvement within the Rochelle Site
  • Ensure product safety through development, review and enforcement of company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and corporate food safety regulatory standards.
  • Review and enforce company quality standards provided by facility, regional and corporate quality authorities
  • Other duties as assigned.
