About The Position

The primary function of this position is to coordinate warehouse employees, administer policies and procedures as they relate to shipping and receiving inventory, in a safe warehouse setting and to assist in loading trucks. The Operations Manager position supports purchasing and sales in the following areas: organizing stock in a way that maximizes space and picking orders in an accurate & timely manner. This role involves supervising a crew of 6-10 warehouse employees, selecting, developing, and motivating them to ensure productivity targets are met and teamwork is encouraged. The manager is responsible for conducting daily safety walk-throughs, enforcing company policies of conduct and safety, and initiating disciplinary action as needed. They will also conduct monthly safety meetings and quarterly driver safety meetings. Key responsibilities include ensuring inventory accuracy through daily cycle counts, identifying causes of product losses, and implementing corrective actions, including maintaining a bin location system. The position requires assisting warehouse employees with loading and unloading trucks, potentially staging trucks for night loading. Cost control through personnel productivity, efficient storage space utilization, and proper material protection is essential. The manager will optimize docks, warehouse layout, and route truck loading patterns to minimize loading time. Maintaining vehicles, machinery, and equipment to OSHA and Federal DOT safety standards is also required. The role involves managing the PeopleNet computer system in company trucks to monitor driver hours and ensure DOT compliance. Strategic planning for material transportation, organizing delivery routes, and determining resource placement for efficient and profitable product delivery, while monitoring shipping for accuracy and timeliness, are also part of the job.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of forklift experience
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass drug test and background verifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship for any length of time

  • Manage PeopleNet computer system in company trucks to monitor driver’s hours of service and on-duty time, ensuring that drivers are in compliance with Federal DOT regulations
  • Strategic planning of material transportation requirements – organize delivery routes and determine proper placement of resources that will result in the most efficient delivery of products to customer while maintaining profitability
  • Monitor shipping to ensure products are delivered accurately and on time
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
