About The Position

The Operations Manager will be accountable for all self-performed construction activity in the market. They will be responsible for the strategy, growth, and profitability of the OSP and ISP Construction divisions as well as the continued growth and improvement of the OSP and ISP Construction service offerings. This position reports to the Executive VP of Technical Operations.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of fiber optic theory which includes fiber loss, connector types, and the different types of fibers
Full knowledge of operating fiber optic splicing equipment
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and building plans, document daily records and reports
Demonstrated ability to use and care for fiber optic test equipment, ruby light, power meter, and OTDR and document test results accurately
Ability to manage remote teams to complete designated amount of work in a specified time frame (e. g. , quality jobs per day), adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands.
Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (e. g. , extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather)
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, contractors, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
Demonstrated sound judgment and decision making

Reporting and prioritizing workloads
Handling multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Maintaining organized and accurate records
Working independently with minimal supervision

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Valid Driver's license with satisfactory driving record
3+ years of operations management experience installing and maintaining fiber optic products and services preferred
3+ years managerial experience of small, remote, field based teams preferred

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe environment and ensure all safety standards are met.
Program Management for OSP and ISP/MxU:
Lead cross-functional teams with Program Planning documenting plans for scoping, budgeting, training, execution, communication, risk taking, and closeout.
Lead training effort for the workforce to ensure everyone understands their role and responsibilities.
Set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Develop production schedule, and set a baseline with stakeholders. Monitor and Control production against a baseline.
Trend and report results. Produce, and distribute high-level programmatic production reports.
Participates in regular calls with internal stakeholders to cover updates and program status.
Assist in identifying, developing, and implementing risk mitigation plan for suppliers and vendors
Business Operations:
Monitor financial health and status of projects and programs.
Ensure field resolution of financial issues
Data Quality Management:
Install a culture of data accuracy, data governance, and accountability through the FiberManager system.
Process Management:
Document operational processes.
Distribute business process outlines
Training:
Initiatives for the Outside Plant Manager and Warehouse function in Atlanta market.
System Management:
Responsible for clear business processes and all operational use of tools. Partner with internal systems experts to standardize the use of tools, data fields, and business processes
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
Oversees the daily workflow of the department
Oversees Time and Attendance duties, e.g., approving timecards
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
Provides Management direction and counseling
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
