Fisher Dynamics is currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager for our Harper Woods, MI facility. This position is responsible to manage production activity throughout designated plants including leading Production Shift Supervisors, advising on staffing, production, quality, materials, scheduling, cost, working with maintenance on equipment, throughput, safety, housekeeping, and the financial performance of the plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 5 years related manufacturing experience required
  • Leadership, coaching and continuous communication with salary and hourly workforce is required.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization including Customers & Suppliers.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001/IATF16949 standards required.
  • Computer literacy requirements include skills in word processing, MS Office suite including Outlook and Excel, PLEX -materials resource planning (MRP) system, job costing, and management reports.
  • Must be proficient in Spanish (Ability to Read, Write, & Speak)
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the following areas is preferred, but not required: metrology; statistical process control concepts; FMEAs (failure modes and effects analysis); basic knowledge of machining, electrical, tooling, and machine building; and production part approval process (PPAP).
  • Must foster an attitude for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Safety; Provide leadership to plant personnel in following all safety protocols. Lead teams to improve safety awareness and reduce incidents.
  • People: Ensure all team members are educated and trained within their scope of work. Ensure adherence to standard through process audits of training matrix
  • Quality: Spearhead corrective actions to address customer concerns. Collaborate with Quality and Engineering Department Managers to meet our target Quality KPI’s
  • Cost: Drive scrap improvement plans within area of responsibility. Generate action plans to meet budget scrap
  • OEE: Generate OEE improvement plans to meet budgeted targets
  • Labor Efficiency: Monitor and improve labor efficiency to meet and or exceed budget.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and drive continuous improvement roadmap
  • Confers with management personnel to establish and coordinate production and quality control standards and activities.
  • Monitor plant and production metrics to ensure the production runs to meet scheduling requirements
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Including training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and working with TeamFisher to resolve problems
  • Consult with engineering relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products, for new and existing programs.
  • Accountable for safety and environmental culture and systems throughout the plant including 5S initiatives.
  • Continuously analyze all departments for tool design, communication, reporting, cost controls, and make recommendations to the operations manager for improvements.
  • Accountable for OEE (Operating Equipment Effectiveness), making recommendations for improved methods of production, drive continuous improvement of operations, quality and productivity.
  • Work with the team to improve process flow and reduce operating expenses
  • Reduce scrap through process improvements
  • Work with other Operations Managers to effectively manage production across campus, communicate quality issues, advise on throughput requirements, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Manage and monitor all IATF-16949 requirements
  • Must also be available by telephone during off-shift times to receive emergency telephone calls
  • This position requires the planning and implementation of programs sufficient to carry out division strategies.
  • There will be times when working with off shifts will be necessary- so periodically adjusting schedule will be required.
  • There is regular contact with sister plants, divisions, departments and with parties outside the company, such as suppliers and customers.
  • This position requires recommending new or revised policies. It is characterized by frequent interruptions, and all work is considered confidential. It permits substantial independent action for creating tactics to reach organizational objectives.
  • Typical problems may involve solving personnel or assembly issues.
