Operations (Production) Team Lead / Manager A regional manufacturing company is looking for a Plant Manager in the Memphis TN area, with pallet manufacturing and refurbishment experience preferred. The person manages all production activities related to the facility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Effectively leads the workforce, instilling motivation and communicating effectively to achieve maximum results. Ensures standards of productivity, safety and accuracy are met. Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations. Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Ensures production and quality of products meets specifications. Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards. Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to General Manager for action. Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data. Provides guidance to the operational plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs. Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and to prevent operational delays. Manages and monitors maintenance and consumable costs. Ensures adequate training of all personnel, to include cross-training. Provides consistent feedback via performance appraisals. Maintains all equipment and automation (if skilled to do so) as required for optimal operating efficiency. Creates and maintains a team-oriented workplace.

  • High School diploma required, preferred experience in a production/warehouse distribution environment, higher education background a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Owner software systems technology will be provided to the candidate.
  • Must be able to pass background checks and drug test.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Equipment maintenance/mechanical experience is not required but highly desirable.
  • pallet manufacturing and refurbishment experience preferred.
