About The Position

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Operations Manager to work at our St. Clair Aggregates location in Marine City, MI. The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing logistics coordination and ensuring compliance with industry standards and optimizing material transportation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction related field or equivalent technical training and experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in dock operations
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations and the ability to implement the appropriate related programs and controls
  • Knowledge of sand, gravel, and slag mining processes -crushing, screening, conveying, washing, stockpiling.
  • Excellent people, team building and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to train, motivate, support, and coordinate personnel
  • Knowledge of product quality specifications and testing procedures
  • Knowledge of mobile and fixed plant equipment, operation and maintenance procedures
  • Ability to understand and analyze financial data and KPI’s
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Efficient use of computer, technology and company systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams to utilize safe and environmentally sound practices
  • Facilitate an effective production environment that focuses on efficient asset management practices to meet quality and value expectations of the customer
  • Maintain strong relationships with MDOT, regulatory agencies, and customers to ensure compliance and adherence to specifications.
  • Negotiate with material suppliers, transportation entities and customers to maximize profits
  • Coordinate material hauling and transportation, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.
  • Optimize trucking operations and broker performance to improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Manage shipping logistics for vessels, ensuring scheduling, compliance with maritime regulations and coordination with port authorities.
  • Partner with sales, dispatch, and marine transport teams to ensure seamless material movement
  • Run KPI reports, analyzes data and utilizes information for better decision-making
  • Collaborate with the GM and Sales group to understand and establish product requirements, production schedules, and inventory control to meet expectations
  • Work closely with Division Controller to manage accurate and timely financial reporting and develop ad hoc financial analysis as opportunities arise
  • Ensure collaboration with the Environmental Team and the Safety Team on any issues that arise
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by manager.
