JOB DESCRIPTION: MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Oversees the handling of inventory in a distribution center or local warehouse which may include some or all of the following activities: shipping, receiving, finished good inventory management, component inventory management, final pack and associated logistics.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) Supply Chain, Operations, Business or equivalent degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in highly regulated warehousing environment
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with warehousing software systems
  • Minimum 8 years progressively responsible experience in warehousing
  • Thorough understanding of inventory management, warehouse management and material handling
  • Basic knowledge of demand planning and vendor management
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and supply chain management
  • Proven success in improving work processes, leading change and role models positive behaviors as well as change agent skills in a complex and fast paced environment
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally

Responsibilities

  • Manages flow of inventory within the distribution center/warehouse to support efficiencies, quality system
  • Optimize labor planning, staffing, and performance of non‑exempt teams to consistently achieve safety, quality, and productivity targets.
  • Lead a Lean/Six Sigma continuous‑improvement culture focused on data‑driven problem solving, waste reduction, and root‑cause resolution.
  • Elevate service performance by ensuring accurate order fulfillment, timely inbound/outbound processing, and technology‑driven allocation and deployment decisions.
  • Drive operational reliability by maximizing asset utilization and equipment uptime through disciplined use and monitoring. compliance and timely customer receipt of products.
  • Evaluates warehousing processes and systems, makes recommendations for improvements, and manages the implementation of approved process and systems changes with a goal of improving productivity, reducing expenses and improving margins.
  • Applies continuous improvement tools to identify and eliminate the root causes of issues that may arise within the warehouse including managing corrective action.
  • Provides leadership by assigning goals which align to entity annual plans and department needs then manage team to execute goals through coaching and mentoring.
  • Manages all transportation and delivery programs including routing, courier selection, company driver management and fleet management, while minimizing expenses and maintaining a high level of customer service and responsiveness.
  • Manages workforce planning including short term need staffing and weekly scheduling based on business needs.
  • Responsible for all matters related to warehouse safety and security, including evaluating and implementing appropriate safeguards necessary to protect the welfare of the employees and the company.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Maintains physical facilities including the evaluation and procurement of material handling equipment, and other building maintenance, upgrades and repairs as necessary.
  • Creates and maintains departmental reports as required.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage system
  • Participates in teams, committees, events and training which improves the organization.
  • Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Maintains a safe and professional work environment.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
  • Works with standard office equipment such as telephone, cellular phone, fax/copier, and a personal computer with standard office software. Works at a desk in a well-lighted, air-conditioned office or workstation with a low to moderate noise level. Travels between company facilities via automobile; air travel as needed. Activities require a significant amount of sitting in front of a computer monitor, some standing and walking. Significant use of hands and arms, plus finger dexterity to reach, point, write, type, operate a computer and other office equipment. Performs tasks that regularly require good correctable vision and hand/eye coordination. Activities also require significant use of voice and hearing for discussions with other employees.
