About The Position

As an Operations Manager at BAE Systems, you'll lead complex manufacturing activities, ensuring high-quality products and client trust. Key responsibilities include: Planning, organizing, and directing medium-sized, complex manufacturing activities, such as combat vehicle assembly and vehicle testing Improving safety, product quality, efficiency, and productivity through assessment and implementation of measures, methods, and techniques Coordinating with personnel on safety, quality assurance, and cost optimization Selecting, directing, and developing subordinates, as well as managing staffing levels and hiring processes Developing and implementing staffing plans, managing work-in-process inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety objectives and policies Collaborating with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to specify methods and processes Maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring OSHA compliance, and administering a collective bargaining contract The role involves 80% factory environment interaction with direct labor personnel and 20% office environment administrative duties.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of production management experience or equivalent education/experience in a related field
  • General manufacturing processes (machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, finishing)
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation
  • Safety management, quality management metrics/tools, and inventory monitoring
  • Statistical process control (SPC) and materials requirement planning (MRP)
  • Collaborative working with other departments and teams
  • Problem-solving and developing innovative solutions
  • People management, including leading, inspiring, motivating, and training others
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • MS Office and function-related software proficiency

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
