About The Position

The Operations Manager at the Yale Stem Cell Center is responsible for overseeing the center's annual operating budget, managing business affairs, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, and supervisory experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and influence outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in grant writing and life science research.
  • Thorough working knowledge of fund accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the annual operating budget of approximately $1.6M.
  • Oversee business affairs and controls, including unit facilities and grant agreements.
  • Supervise 2 staff members and provide dual supervision for 3 Research Associates.
  • Support 7 faculty labs and manage shared equipment and facilities.
  • Serve as the expert in compliance and policy, delegating work to appropriate staff.
  • Prepare grant applications for Center Support in collaboration with the Director.
  • Monitor and evaluate the application of the unit's financial resources and performance against budget.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to ensure effective resource use and adherence to regulations.
  • Engage in initiatives generated by the LA and the University, representing unit needs at higher levels.
  • Utilize effective practices for attracting, retaining, and developing high-quality staff.
