About The Position

As the Manager for Employment/Public Accommodation Investigators at the Washington State Human Rights Commission (WSHRC), you'll play a critical leadership role in advancing the agency's mission to eliminate and prevent discrimination in employment and places of public accommodation. This position oversees a team of investigators responsible for enforcing both state and federal anti-discrimination laws under the dual framework of RCW 49.60 and the agency's Work-sharing Agreement with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). You will ensure that investigations into employment/public accommodation discrimination complaints—whether filed under state jurisdiction, federal jurisdiction, or both—are conducted with integrity, thoroughness, and timeliness. This includes overseeing investigations of allegations involving race, color, national origin, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), disability, age, religion, and other protected characteristics covered under state and federal law. You will provide daily guidance, technical expertise, and quality assurance to ensure that each investigation complies with EEOC Performance Standards and meets the legal requirements of RCW 49.60. You will also support investigators in navigating complex legal issues, developing investigative plans, drafting findings, and preparing case files for potential legal action or closure. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between WSHRC and EEOC, helping coordinate training, reporting, and inter-agency collaboration. You will be key in upholding WSHRC's accountability to both state constituents and federal partners, and to ensuring that the Commission's investigative work is legally sound, equitable, and aligned with national enforcement priorities.
