About The Position

The Operations Manager I position at DB Schenker in Cherry Valley, Illinois, is responsible for planning, managing, and controlling all aspects of the operation to provide the highest level of service at the lowest cost. The role involves coordinating, managing, and monitoring work at the site, acting as a liaison to the General Manager, and implementing operational plans. The manager will prepare and control operational budgets, manage inventory, and develop effective financial strategies for the site. Additionally, the position requires proactive recruitment and training, establishing organizational structures, supervising staff, and evaluating performance to meet productivity and organizational objectives. The manager will also maintain safety standards and implement plans to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
  • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills required
  • Generally prefer 2 years of related supervisory or management experience
  • Must be able to pass any federal/state/local government, airport, or company-required background checks, clearances, and/or drug and alcohol tests

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage and control all aspects of the operation and provide the highest level of service at the lowest cost
  • Coordinate, manage and monitor the work at the site

  • Prepare and control operational budgets and manage inventory
  • Develop effective strategies for the financial well-being of the site
  • Recruit and train staff, establish organizational structures, and supervise staff
  • Evaluate and monitor performance of staff to ensure productivity and organizational objectives are met
  • Maintain and implement plans to establish productivity, safety standards, quality, cost control, and employee morale
  • Review, analyze, modify, and implement efficient department processes, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure a safe working environment through consistent practice of safety programs and procedures
