About The Position

The Operations Manager for the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego is responsible for providing comprehensive analytical, programmatic, administrative, and fiscal support to a diverse team of faculty, staff, and researchers. This role involves managing the operations of the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine division, ensuring effective program coordination, financial management, and adherence to departmental goals. The Operations Manager will play a key role in evaluating ongoing activities and implementing changes to enhance program effectiveness in a dynamic academic environment.

Requirements

  • Seven years of related experience, education/training, or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus three years of related experience/training.
  • Knowledge of administrative operational activities such as event planning, fundraising processes, risk management, and accounting.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, assign work, and manage complex workflows.
  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations regarding budget and personnel management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication and critical thinking.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a mid-sized academic or non-academic department.
  • Familiarity with University-specific computer application programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion.

Responsibilities
