As an Operations Manager at Carter Lumber, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of a professional lumberyard. Your success in this role will hinge on your ability to meet performance objectives and sales goals while effectively managing costs and expenses. This position requires a strong focus on the management of store inventory and employees, ensuring that all operations align with company policies and procedures. Effective communication with both field staff and internal departments is essential for the success of this role, as it fosters collaboration and ensures that all team members are aligned with the store's objectives. In your role, you will manage and implement the overall operations of a pro-oriented store, ensuring that all aspects of the store's policies and procedures are executed properly. You will oversee yard activities and the store office employees, conduct weekly operational meetings with market management, and regularly meet with the General Manager to discuss sales and operational issues. Your leadership will be crucial in directing and managing all areas of store staff, including hiring, communication, motivation, training, and discipline. You will also be responsible for creating work schedules for operational staff and addressing any problematic situations that arise. Sales management will be a key component of your responsibilities, as you will manage the inside sales force and ensure that sales goals are met. You will work closely with the General Manager to monitor sales and profit goals, ensuring that the store remains on target. Additionally, you will identify personal growth needs and learning opportunities for yourself and your team, committing to ongoing education on products, packages, and procedures.
