About The Position

Jupiter Power is thrilled to launch its 2025 Summer Internship Program! This will be a 10-week paid program starting June 9, 2025, and is open to rising college juniors and seniors who have an interest in renewable energy. To be eligible, candidates must be actively enrolled in a 4+ year bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026. Qualified candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and must be willing to work out of one of our Jupiter Power offices 4+ days per week throughout the Program. We are currently accepting applications for an intern to work with our Operations & Maintenance team in Austin, TX. This individual will work alongside a team of talented individuals from different business units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (in pursuit) in Engineering, Business, or related field required.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be willing to work out of one of our Jupiter Power offices 4+ days per week throughout the Program.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with the role of BMS in monitoring the health, performance, and safety of battery cells, including voltage, temperature, and charge/discharge cycles.
  • Understand O&M, including the day-to-day activities required to ensure the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of infrastructure and equipment.
  • Learn about different maintenance strategies, such as preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Familiarize with CMMS tools and their role in tracking work orders, managing asset lifecycles, and generating performance reports.
  • Study risk assessment techniques and how to implement risk mitigation strategies in O&M.
  • Learn about safety protocols and emergency response plans.
  • Understand the importance of monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance activities.
  • Understand basic financial concepts such as the time value of money, interest rates, and financial statements.
  • Learn about accounting principles and practices, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Understand risk and return, diversifications, and portfolio management.
  • Learn how to use financial ratios and metrics to evaluate company performance.
  • Develop strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding how to track and maintain optimal stock levels to meet demand without overstocking or running out.
  • Learning to conduct regular audits to ensure the system's accuracy.
  • To properly value inventory, familiarize yourself with methods like FIFO, LIFO, and weighted average cost.
  • Learning how to predict future demand based on usage.
  • Understanding how to process and manage customer orders and inventory replenishment efficiently.
  • Understanding the costs of holding inventory and finding ways to minimize these expenses.
  • Being trained in emergency protocols, first aid, and CPR to handle injuries or accidents on-site, particularly in remote locations.
  • Knowledge of safely handling and storing materials like chemicals, batteries, and cleaning agents used in renewable energy.
  • Creating and enforcing safety plans tailored to specific project sites, accounting for local hazards, weather conditions, and equipment.
  • Knowing the fire hazards related to renewable energy systems and how to respond appropriately with fire extinguishers or suppression systems.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE and educate employees on its importance and correct usage.
  • Stay updated with the latest safety technologies and practices.
  • Understanding the structure of energy markets, including how electricity and renewable energy are traded.
  • Learning how energy prices are set, including factors like supply and demand, market competition, and transmissions.
  • Familiarity with national and international regulations, such as government policies, emissions standards, renewable energy mandates, and energy market reforms.
  • Learning how to manage risk in energy trading and strategies.
  • Understanding how electricity is transmitted and distributed, including bottlenecks, grid congestion, and how market operators handle grid stability.
  • Developing skills in analyzing market data to make informed trading operational.
  • Familiarity with clearing and settling energy market transactions, ensuring suppliers and consumers are paid and billed correctly.
