About The Position

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) will report to the Production Superintendent/Production Manager and is responsible for coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities for the operating plant, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with safety and environmental policies. This role manages maintenance priorities, oversees budget forecasting, and enhances collaboration between operations and maintenance teams to drive world-class performance.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a production operator.
  • Proficiency with maintenance planning software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, MP2) and basic MS Office/Excel.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical/electrical/instrumentation systems and plant utilities.
  • Strong planning, organization, and coordination skills with attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; ability to influence across departments.
  • Solid understanding of LOTO, confined space, hot work, PPE, and general safety procedures
  • Must have a valid state issued driving license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Process Technology.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, equipment manuals, and reading electrical/mechanical schematics.
  • Experience with RCA, 5-Why, FMEA, and reliability-centered maintenance concepts.
  • Basic budgeting/cost tracking and contractor management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review, prioritize, and plan work orders in maintenance planning software (e.g., SAP PM/Maximo/MP2), ensuring scope clarity, parts/tooling availability, lockout/tagout (LOTO), permits, and job steps are defined.
  • Build and manage weekly maintenance schedules in alignment with production needs, outages, and campaign plans.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance (PM) compliance, optimize frequencies based on failure data, and track PM backlog.
  • Stage work packages, kitting (Grouping) parts, and reserve shared tools and contractors ahead of execution.
  • Serve as the day-of coordinator for Maintenance work: confirm job readiness, remove constraints, and align with Operations on handoffs and lockouts.
  • Communicate daily priorities, equipment status, and impacts to shift leadership and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate external vendors and contractors, ensuring scope, safety onboarding, and deliverables are met.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for repeat failures; capture corrective actions and standardize fixes.
  • Maintain equipment master data, PM tasks, and Bill of Materials (BOM) in the Planning software; ensure accurate closeout notes and time confirmations.
  • Monitor and report maintenance KPIs (e.g., PM compliance, schedule adherence, wrench time, MTBF/MTTR, backlog health).
  • Identify opportunities to reduce unplanned downtime and improve spare parts strategies.
  • Champion safe work practices: ensure JSA/permits/LOTO are in place for every job.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with OSHA, local regulations, and company policies.
  • Lead or participate in safety meetings, near-miss reviews, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Issue daily and weekly maintenance updates to Operations and leadership.
  • Maintain accurate equipment history, attach photos/records, and ensure traceability of work.
  • Draft clear job plans, work instructions, and shift handover notes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to track, coordinate, and oversee multiple work streams.
