About the position
AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Operational Leadership Manager for exciting opportunities as part of AECOM’s transportation or Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) practice. The candidate will concentrate efforts towards service areas of business operations, maintenance and application of transportation/ ITS concepts to those services and systems as needed. The candidate will need to be professional, self-motivated, resourceful and able to successfully execute a wide range of tasks in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities. The appropriately qualified candidate will need to demonstrate an understanding of leadership capabilities within a real-time operations environment. A flexible schedule is needed for events and project coordination.
Responsibilities
- Communicates with client managers, operations/project managers and department leads providing status updates and ascertaining operational needs.
- Administers and directly manages the staff and coordinates with the project manager to assure staff compliance with project requirements.
- Supports the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Assists in the research and development of presentations, technical memos and studies.
- Attends internal and external meetings to represent the client, AECOM or operation.
- Reviews maintenance and operational activities for accuracy and appropriateness, providing guidance and feedback to staff as needed.
- Mentors current staff and new hires on procedures and policies.
- Assists in the development and facilitation of designated initial and recurrent training topics associated with operations.
- Oversees the development, revision and execution of the project safe work plan in conjunction with AECOM SH&E staff.
- Monitors contract expenditures and ensures the established budget is not exceeded.
- Contributes to accurate and timely after-action scenarios involving AECOM regional operations.
- Assists with special event planning and setup.
- Contributes to accurate and timely after-action reports for incidents and events.
- Supports the recruitment, selection and on-boarding process for project staff.
- Advises and assists with outreach efforts on behalf of the client within the community and stakeholder networks.
- Works on special assignments, tasks, reports and presentations.
- Performs other duties as needed by the organization or client.
Requirements
- BA/BS + 10 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, holidays, weekends, planned/unplanned events.
- A pre-employment drug screen will be required for this position.
Nice-to-haves
- Computer proficiency: Windows environment and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access).
- Experience with intelligent transportation system devices and communications.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to efficiently produce technical reports, documents, client communication, and technical memoranda.
- Experience with data manipulation, management, and processing.
- Project management experience.
- Experience with asset management Microsoft Project / Microsoft SharePoint.
- Leadership experience and interpersonal skills along with an understanding of key management concepts.
- Experience and proficiency coordinating real-time activities and priorities calmly under pressure and in a variety of work conditions for self and support staff.
- Leadership experience communicating and organizing correspondence, conveying urgency and documenting decisions made to project management and the client.
