About the Internship As part of BBB’s paid Summer Internship Program, you’ll get to experience real day-to-day work in your field of study, complete a meaningful summer long project, participate in cross-departmental development opportunities, and be networked with some of the largest brands in the region. Position Summary: BBB’s Operations department brings businesses and consumers together to foster a trustworthy marketplace. The department includes three closely connected programs: Data Quality, Dispute Resolution, and Trade Practices , all of which support BBB’s mission by maintaining accurate business information, resolving consumer concerns, and promoting ethical business practices. The Operations Intern will report to the Trade Practices Program Manager, and gains hands-on experience across all three programs, spending approximately one-third of the internship with each team. Program Overview Data Quality: Ensures BBB business information is accurate and up to date for internal use and public reporting on BBB.org. The team collaborates with BBBs across the U.S. and Canada and works to improve data processes and efficiency. Dispute Resolution: Manages consumer complaints and customer reviews in Minnesota and North Dakota, helping businesses and consumers resolve issues through BBB’s voluntary process. In 2025, the team handled approximately 25,000 complaints and 16,000 reviews, while also identifying potential patterns of concern and supporting mediation and arbitration services. Trade Practices: Monitors business conduct, conducts investigations, and reports findings to the public. The team also reviews advertising for accuracy, addresses misleading claims, and ensures proper use of BBB trademarks. Our Database: BBB maintains profiles on more than 175,000 businesses across Minnesota and North Dakota. These profiles help consumers make informed decisions and contribute to BBB business ratings (A+ to F), which are based on 14 established factors.
