About The Position

Cricket Valley Energy Center is a 1,080MW (net), 3x1x1 GE 7FA.05 combined cycle facility in operation in Dover Plains, NY. The OGL will provide facility operations and maintenance direction, direct daily operational activities, oversee plant performance, acts as a shift supervisor, and ensures that the plant meets its generating requirements, while operating in a safe and efficient manner with strict adherence to all safety, environmental, NERC compliance, and facility rules and regulations to protect employees, the public, and the facility equipment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all facets of power plant operations and maintenance, particularly combined cycle power plants.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for the operation of the plant.
  • Capable of writing operating procedures, routine reports, work orders, and purchase requisitions.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals, and P&IDs.
  • Prior experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Knowledge of combustion turbine operating systems and balance of plant DCS is preferred.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and under a variety of working conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 - 6 years related experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and/or education preferred.
  • CVEC's Lead qualification program preferred, GE/EPC contractor training accepted.
  • Minimum of 2 years site specific experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps the Plant Staff fully informed of unusual facility conditions.
  • Develops and updates the Plant's operational procedures, and the training of facility personnel.
  • Oversee Operational training signoff.
  • Operate and maintain a combined cycle generating facility and all associated auxiliary and support equipment with minimal guidance or assistance.
  • Oversees the departmental Work Order program, utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Plays an active role in Outage planning, preparation, scheduling, and execution.
  • Reviews journals, logbooks, shift turnovers, inspection of watch (IOW) surveillance round sheets, and various other reports.
  • Assists in updating and maintaining the Operational Rotating Shift Schedule.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly operating reports.
  • Performs operational tests.
  • Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Identifies and resolves Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) problems.
  • Proficient with water chemistry for the facility's HRSG, packaged boilers, cooling tower and demineralized water treatment plant.
  • Assumes the responsibility of the LOMT (Lead Operations and Maintenance Technician) as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by the O&M Manager and/or the Facility Manager.
  • Proficiency at operating the plant via a remote distributed control system (DCS).
  • Set priorities for the day-to-day work and give direction to on-shift employees.
  • Operate Reverse Osmosis water system in accordance with OEM and plant procedures.
  • Perform capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by the O&M Manager.
  • Assist other L-OMTs in startups and various day-to-day tasks.
  • Coordinate contractor activities, such as waste removal, work permitting, safety training.
  • Obtain an excellent understanding of plant permit and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all accidents/incidents/near misses/hazards are immediately reported to Facility Management.
  • Work within the team to develop a culture of safety and responsibility.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continual improvement of HSE performance.
