About The Position

The Dayton Convention Center (DCC) is the region's premier mid-sized event facility conveniently situated right in the heart of downtown Dayton. Located within a 600-mile radius of close to 70% of the nation’s population and steps from the vibrant Oregon Entertainment District, the 150,000 sq. ft. DCC offers 77,000 sq. ft of column-free exhibition space and 22 meeting rooms including a 750 seat, full stage theater. Managed by ASM Global and owned and developed by the Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority, the DCC is in the process of completing a major renovation to its facility that will serve to reinforce its status as the venue of choice for the region. Under general supervision, the Operations Facility Specialist performs work as needed to clean, maintain, and prepare for events at the facility. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting and a high degree of physical activity.

Requirements

  • Six months or more related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set up & conversion.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, and patrons.
  • Follow all policies/procedures, risk management, safety precautions, and emergency procedures.
  • Meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Work effectively under pressure and produce accurate results.

  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of the setup and conversion process in preparation for events.
  • Set up and remove tables, chairs, operable walls, barricades, stages, flooring, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Ensure the day-to-day operations of the facility are met, including loading/unloading delivery trucks and transporting trash and recycling.
  • Assist with pre/post event cleaning and janitorial tasks including sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and vacuuming.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks such as painting and patching.
  • Report irregularities, discrepancies, damage, and safety concerns promptly to supervisor.
  • Use appropriate equipment and supplies to clean and maintain the facility.
