What You’ll do: The Operations Excellence Business Analyst Intern plays a key role in supporting process improvement, documentation, performance analysis, and early-stage automation and Copilot use‑case development across insurance operations. This internship offers hands‑on experience in understanding how core operational functions such as billing, collections, underwriting support, and policy administration work within a regulated insurance environment. You’ll collaborate with teams across Operations, Underwriting, Technology, and other business functions to help map workflows, analyze performance, and contribute to solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience. This role is ideal for students who enjoy problem‑solving, process thinking, and exploring how automation and AI can transform business operations. Key Responsibilities: Process Documentation & Analysis Assist in documenting end‑to‑end operational processes using tools such as SIPOC diagrams, swim lanes, and RACI charts. Help define current‑state and future‑state workflows, including decision points and exception paths. Support identification of inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and control gaps. Maintain and update process documentation to ensure accuracy and version control. Data & Performance Analysis Analyze operational metrics such as cycle time, backlog, error rates, and SLA performance. Prepare basic reports, dashboards, and insights for Operations leadership. Support root‑cause analysis and help quantify operational impacts. Assist in tracking benefits from process improvements and automation initiatives. Automation & Copilot Use‑Case Support Contribute to defining business use cases for automation and Copilot solutions. Help document required inputs, expected outputs, exception scenarios, and human‑in‑the‑loop controls. Participate in business acceptance testing and solution validation. Collaborate with Technology and Automation teams to ensure alignment with business requirements. Continuous Improvement & Change Support Support Lean and continuous improvement activities across operations. Assist in developing SOPs, job aids, and training materials. Help assess change impacts and operational readiness for new processes or tools. Participate in pilots and proof‑of-concept initiatives. Governance & Controls Help document business controls and operational evidence requirements. Support audit, risk, and compliance tracking activities. Ensure process updates align with regulatory and governance standards. Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail. Interest in process improvement, operations, and business analytics. Familiarity with process mapping techniques (SIPOC, swim lanes, RACI) is a plus. Proficiency in Excel; exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools is helpful. Interest in automation, AI, and digital transformation. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
