About The Position

This position is accountable for ensuring that all equipment within the Bureau of Operations is properly maintained and replacement of equipment is purchased based upon needs, manages the district’s Operations equipment budget, and initiating and monitoring the use of new and experimental equipment.Essential Functions Ensures thorough inspection of equipment upon receipt and maintains records documenting that the district’s equipment is properly maintained, serviced, and replaced. Ensures that the proper method and source of reports have been made according to the department and Administrative Services’ regulations. Participates in the annual equipment inventory of Bureau of Operations. Conducts preventive maintenance programs and training programs in equipment operations as needed. Investigates new and experimental equipment and implements where applicable. Manages the Bureau of Operation’s equipment budget. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR seven years of engineering experience.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Requires successful completion of a background screening.
  • Requires occasional statewide travel.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.

Nice To Haves

  • Eight years’ experience in performing a variety of technical tasks of which at least four years should be related to civil engineering.
