About The Position

The Operations Engineer at BASF's Catalyst team in Seneca, SC, is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the assigned production area. This role involves providing technical assistance, owning Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), leading troubleshooting efforts, and ensuring operational efficiency while adhering to safety and environmental standards. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to optimize production processes and contribute to the achievement of plant goals.

Requirements

  • Education in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a chemical/refining or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Lean/Six-Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Basic mechanical understanding of manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills across all levels.
  • Familiarity with solids handling and process equipment unit operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of precious metals refining operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the assigned production area.
  • Own and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Equipment Procedures (EPs), and Batch Instructions.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for operational issues.
  • Interact with Operations, Maintenance, and other support personnel to ensure smooth operations.
  • Generate and complete Management of Change (MOCs) and provide operational forecasts to business units.
  • Provide guidance and input to achieve plant goals and operational budgets.
  • Monitor process conditions and provide technical support to the Daily Operational Team.
  • Drive standardization across shifts and optimize operating costs.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to prioritize items in the Maintenance backlog.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis for production, EHS, and quality incidents.
  • Optimize scheduled and unscheduled downtime and improve overall cycle time.
