About The Position

The Operations Engineer will implement, drive, monitor, and report the progress/health of the Continuous Improvement System to the Major Build Unit Director, serving as the primary point-of-contact for matters relating to Continuous Improvement within build areas. Utilizing multiple problem solving methods (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.). The Operations Engineer’s main focus will be to increase the overall quality and deliverability of our product while decreasing the total cost of production. Understands the Continuous Improvement Frameworks, improvement, and management operating systems, and serves as the subject matter expert in all of its elements, to include PMT, IPT, and Tier 2 & Tier 3 Obeya. Provides continuity and sustainment of the CIF/MOS, independent of leadership and employee attrition and/or changes within the MBU.

Requirements

  • Four year Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Basic to complex problem solving methodologies utilizing lean principles and theories.
  • Awareness and use of CI applications in the manufacturing field.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt trained and/or certified
  • Facilitation of small, mid, to large groups in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen, problem solving events, and value stream mapping.
  • Strategy deployment experience relative to annual break through objectives, annual improvement priorities, targets to improve, and action plans.
  • Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience planning, executing, and supervising total preventative maintenance programs for complex equipment or facilities.
  • Reliability & Asset Management: Proven ability to develop reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) strategies, KPI tracking (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, OEE), and root‑cause analysis to drive continuous improvement.

  • Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Ability to work cross functionally in a large organization interfacing with Sr. to Executive leadership.
  • Ability to utilize Tableau, Minitab, Microsoft office suite including Microsoft Project and Visio.
  • Ability to analyze production performance metrics relative to quality, cost, and delivery to determine opportunities for improvement. Utilizing data analytics to help build a continuous improvement road map for the major build area.
