About the position

CACI is looking for experienced, innovative, and motivated Operations Engineer to support the mission objectives and needs of the customer, U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) in multiple CONUS locations, to include Tampa, FL and Fayetteville, NC. The position is contingent upon award of the USSOCOM Enterprise Development, Application and Training (EDAT) contract. The Operations Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our development and testing environments, collaborating closely with software developers, and maintaining the integrity and security of our systems. This role requires a strong background in IT operations, system administration, and a solid understanding of software development processes. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills, a strong technical background, and experience working in DoD environments. They are a team player with a passion for optimizing systems, automating processes, and ensuring the highest levels of security and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the on-site lab environment used for user testing and accreditation.
  • Collaborate with software developers to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect sensitive DoD information and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in both development and production environments.
  • Automate routine tasks and implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity, making proactive recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist in the accreditation process for new code updates before production deployment.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in IT operations and DevOps.

Requirements

  • Active Top-Secret clearance and be SCI eligible.
  • BA/BS + 8 years relevant experience; additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of education.
  • Current DoD 8140 – IAT II Certification (e.g. CompTIA Security+).
  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, system administration, or a similar role.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.
  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements for DoD systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience supporting USSOCOM mission requirements.
  • Working in Agile and DevOps/DevSecOps processes.
  • Certifications such as Certified DevOps Engineer, or similar.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Knowledge of web application architectures and associated technologies.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, ELK stack).
