Executive, Legislative, and Other General Government Support

Under general direction, performs professional engineering work related to evaluating, designing, constructing, inspecting, and managing water and wastewater systems. Applies engineering expertise to solve a variety of operational challenges in both field and office settings.

  • Develop, review, and manage water/wastewater treatment and conveyance projects, ensuring adherence to City standards.
  • Diagnose system issues, optimize functionality, plan future upgrades, and recommend new technologies.
  • Input and analyze maintenance data within the asset management system, ensuring data quality and actionable insights for remediation.
  • Draft and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance operational compliance and efficiency.
  • Conduct inspections and refine SOPs based on findings to promote best practices.
  • Draft project scopes, oversee consultant planning efforts, and manage master planning documents.
  • Develop engineering plans/specifications for projects, review external plans to confirm alignment with city requirements.
  • Ensure construction projects meet design specifications; support City inspectors with technical guidance.
  • Analyze system needs and prioritize CIP and O&M projects, preparing rationales for annual and multi-year plans.
  • Contribute to budget planning and monitor expenditures.
  • Maintain communications with city departments, contractors, and the public.
  • Operate a City vehicle to travel to various locations.
  • Four (4) years of technical engineering experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field from an Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited institution.
  • A valid Texas driver's license; the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days, or a military waiver is required.
  • Possession of a professional engineering license, E.I.T. certificate, or an appropriate water and/or wastewater license is preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of technical engineering experience is preferred.
  • Three (3) years in a senior or advanced engineering role is preferred.
  • Construction design and project management experience preferred.
  • Salary range from $98,015.68 to $122,520.00.
