The Operations Engineer will be an active member of the Daily Operations Team, playing a key role in achieving production excellence and safely executing production plans for their assigned area. This role owns and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs), Process Safety Information, and process material and physical property data; leads troubleshooting and problem‑resolution efforts; and collaborates closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other support functions. Requirements

  • Hold a B.S. in Engineering or Science (expected graduation by May 2026), preferably in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Bring 18 months of internships or co‑op experience in chemical, refining, or a similar manufacturing environment
  • Update and create P&IDs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), operating manuals, and on‑the‑job training guides for process operators and supervisors
  • Use process historian graphics and trending tools (e.g., Aspen) to monitor and analyze process performance
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) activities using BASF methodology and tools relevant to chemical/refining manufacturing
  • Develop and use data visualization tools (such as Power BI) and implement continuous‑improvement ideas to reduce waste and improve manufacturing reliability
  • Serve as the manufacturing representative for capital projects and are familiar with BASF’s capital project process and documentation
  • Understand the intent of unit operations and the operation of process equipment such as reactors, distillation columns, boilers, solid‑handling systems, pumps, and control valves

Responsibilities
