About The Position

The Operations Manager oversees operations staff for all aspects of facility maintenance at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum (KCAC). This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and Event Services and is responsible for scheduling and supervising all building housekeeping and set-up personnel. The incumbent ensures that the building is kept clean and orderly while coordinating effectively between the Event Services staff and the Operations Department floor staff to meet client requirements. The position requires arena ice experience, including installation and painting.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2-4 years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to execute large functions.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must maintain PCI compliance.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all building floor lead supervisors and maintenance workers.
  • Schedules work shifts of employees to ensure proper coverage of all event requirements and efficient completion of routine housekeeping tasks.
  • Works with the Assistant General Manager and Operations Director to develop programs to increase efficiency and productivity of all building operations employees.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of capital and operating budgets.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, administration, and review of a comprehensive safety and emergency procedures program for all employees and users.
  • Coordinates all event set-up requirements between Event Services staff, Food and Beverage Staff, and Operations Floor staff.
  • Prepares daily work task sheets for all Floor Supervisors and ensures completion.
  • Deals directly with outside contractors to ensure they service the facility according to contractual obligations.
  • Oversees all building rental equipment.
  • Identifies housekeeping needs within the facility, assigns them, and ensures satisfactory completion.
  • Trains staff in responsibilities and expectations, fostering a service-oriented attitude.
  • Provides working supervision of staff, prepares work schedules, and oversees maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Provides support and assistance for repair and maintenance of all mechanical systems including electronics, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, etc.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the facility and adherence to safety codes/laws.
  • Analyzes needs and plans preventative maintenance and upgrades for systems.
  • Responsible for payroll for department employees.
  • Keeps accurate records on all matters concerning subordinates and signs all required reports.
